Ian Johnson is an experienced Intellectual Property professional specialising in IP strategy, litigation risk management, and corporate governance. Most recently, he spent over a decade in senior leadership and Innovation roles at a Jersey based global provider of IP and research services, overseeing corporate IP matters, M&A, risk management, and operational efficiency.

Ian led the expansion and restructuring of the IP legal team, growing it across multiple international locations. He has been instrumental in integrating acquired businesses, streamlining governance processes, and implementing organisational cost saving initiatives to improve operational efficiency while maintaining high service quality.

Prior to this, Ian held IP leadership positions at Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks, where he managed global patent portfolios, licensing strategies, and litigation support for emerging software technologies. As Head of IPR for the Applications and Solutions Technology Group at Nokia Siemens Networks, he was part of the leadership team tasked with establishing the IP organisation of that Joint Venture and played a key role in IPR generation and risk management, working with his teams members across the UK, Germany, and Finland.

Beyond telecommunications, Ian has also worked in the automotive sector in Germany, leading the EMEA IP team of Harman Becker responsible for ADAS and infotainment systems, as well as within the UK defence industry, where he supported IP business development for advanced technologies and commercialisation ofinnovations in emerging sectors.

His leadership has played a key role in supporting strategic acquisitions, fostering innovation, and ensuring strong risk management practices in an evolving business environment.
